On the 19th of November every year, the world marks the “world toilet day”. this years theme was “leave no one behind”
According to the UN, toilets save lives, because human waste spread killer diseases. World Toilet Day is about inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis. This meant to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) which promises sanitation for all by 2030.
A toilet is not just a toilet, its a life saver, dignity protector and opportunity maker. Sanitation is a human right for all people no matter where they are from. despite this an estimated 4.2 million people across the globe don’t have access to safe and secure sanitation.
Over 600 million people today don’t have access to proper sanitation hence they still practice open defecation. Besides that over 290,000 children under the age of 5 die because of drinking dirty water.
Every year, some 430,000 people die due to trachoma, intestinal worms and schistosomiasis, diseases caused by poor sanitation.
Build a toilet, save a life.
